Municipal parks
In the proximity of the unique town centre, you will find the municipal park and one of the most beautiful forest parks in the Mediterranean. It features numerous paths and is a significant recreation and tourist site for the island. Stretching across an area of 12 ha, Komrčar is the most significant and the most beautiful work of Pravdoje Belije (Slovenia, 1853-1923), a head forester from Rab who planted it in 1889.
At the beginning of the 20th c., fascinated by the beauty of Rab and the Komrčar Park, Prince Alois von Liechtenstein donated funds for the construction of the promenade by the sea at the foot of the said park and the city walls, where the popular Banova vila municipal beach is situated.
