Gradska loža (Municipal Lodge or Loggia) was built in in 1509 in the Renaissance style as an open-air porch with a wooden roofing resting on eight slender columns and two semi-columns leaning against the northern wall of the granary. The new Municipal Lodge is located at the small square, the most busting and the most significant central spot that was named Platea Gospi (the square dedicated to Virgin Mary) at that time, opening towards the intersection of Srednja ulica and the main side road leading to the Duke's Palace (Knežev dvor) (the Municipium Arba Square) through the vaulted passage of the town's watchtower up the staircase leading to the top of the town centre and the Square of Liberty (Trg slobode), a sort of the centre of the uptown, a peaceful and quiet part of the town.

The Platea Gospi Square located adjacent to the Church of St. Nicholas (Sv. Nikola), originally named the Church of the Holy Spirit (Crkva sv. Duha), was a place of gathering and assembly of local population in the Middle Ages, under the open-air porch of the Municipal Lodge (Loggia), until the fall of the Venetian Republic in 1797, where all sorts of public urban life events took place. Under the loggia (sub logia) the assemblies took place (congreghe) in which the Duke of Rab participated with his Secretary. Trials and trading took place there.
