A pleasant summer microclimate owing to the forest and the summer breeze
Bathing area under the city walls and the bell tower (200m) and along the promenade in the shade of pine trees (700m)
You can reach the bathing area from the town walking down the stone steps or the seaside promenade
It is a perfect place to rest and enjoy your breakfast, swimming, sunbathing or a cool and fresh evening cocktail
A UNIQUE SWIMMING AREA UNDER THE MILLENNIAL CITY WALLS AND THE KOMRČAR FOREST PARK
Under the city walls with the view of four church bell towers and the Komrčar Forest Park, at the Bay of St. Euphemia, lies the municipal bathing area with a favourable microclimate in the summer. It is 900 metres long and consists of two beaches with pebbles and sand at their far ends, as well as a concrete promenade with pine trees leaning over it. There are stone steps leading down from the promenade and into the sea every few dozen metres.
IN ADDITION TO THE SEA, THE SHADE AND THE SUMMER BREEZE, SEEK REFRESHMENT AT THE COCKTAIL BAR
The popular Banova vila beach with the cocktail bar bearing the same name is located in between the city walls and the park, with a new bathing spot of Vela kamen located a hundred metres ahead, which can be accessed by a hiking trail descending from the Komrčar Park. At its far end, some 500 metres farther ahead, there is a bay, that is, the Škver beach (a sandy beach with a sunbathing area made of concrete), the St. Euphemia beach that was very popular back in 1895.
GET ABOARD THE TAXI BOAT AND TAKE A SWIM ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE BAY
Taxi boats will take tourists to the popular bathing area nearby, the forested Frkanj Peninsula known as The Island of Love, which is located just a few minutes away.
REST IN THE SHADE OF PINE TREES OR SUNBATHE IN THE PROXIMITY OF THE CITY WALLS
The town’s promenade is also a towel and swimming props storage area, as well as a place where tourists can relax in the lush pine forest (700 m long). Located some 200 metres away from the bathing area under the city walls, it is not hidden by vegetation, so it is a perfect place for sunbathing.
ESCAPE THE BUSTLING CITY AND EXPERIENCE THE EXCITEMENT OF A NIGHT SWIM
In the early 20th century, fascinated by the natural beauty of the Island of Rab and the Komrčar Park, Prince Alois von Liechtenstein donated money for the construction of the promenade which at night becomes a gathering spot for youth, playing the guitar and enjoying night swimming. This is an excellent place to get away from the bustling city, particularly in the evening.
